Eileen Nowikowski joined Sachs Waldman in 1974, became a shareholder in 1981 and serves on its Board of Directors.

During the thirty years she has been employed by the firm, Ms. Nowikowski has specialized in the representation of public sector labor organizations. She has served as general counsel to teacher and corrections labor organizations since the mid 90's. Her practice includes the representation of labor organizations before administrative agencies and in labor arbitration, including both discipline and contract interpretation cases. Among Ms. Nowikowski's sub-specialities are the Family and Medical Leave Act and union security issues, including the obligations of labor organizations under Communication Workers v. Beck.

In 1990-1991 Ms. Nowikowski served as the Chairperson of the State Bar of Michigan Labor and Employment Law Section, one of the largest sections of the State Bar, with over 1800 members. Previously she had served as Vice Chair, Secretary Treasurer and Council member of the Section. During her tenure as Chair, the Section produced its first quarterly Newsletter which continues to be an authoritative source of information and analysis on labor and employment law in Michigan and the Sixth Circuit. She is the author of "Public Policy Exception to the Enforcement of Labor Arbitration Awards", Michigan Bar Journal, 626, July, 1989 as well as numerous articles and papers for professional associations and client seminars.

Ms. Nowikowski graduated cum laude from Wayne State University Law School in 1973 and also holds a M.S. degree in Public Administration from Case Western Reserve University. She was a member of Wayne State University Law Review, 1971-1972.
