Mark Steckloff joined Sachs Waldman in 1976 and became a shareholder in 1982. His practice is dedicated to the representation of labor organizations in both the public and private sector and employee benefit plans, including multi employer pension and health and welfare plans. He also is the firm's expert on matters relating to bankruptcy law.

Mr. Steckloff's practice involves frequent appearances before federal and state courts, bankruptcy court, federal and state administrative agencies, and labor and ERISA arbitrators. In Peet Packing Company Retirement Income Plan v. Dennis McLain, et al and related actions, Mr. Steckloff successfully recovered all of the millions of dollars removed from a single employer pension plan by purported plan trustees and other parties, plus lost interest. He has also successfully collected on behalf of multi employer pension plans, tens of millions of dollars of withdrawal liability from withdrawn employers, including those in bankruptcy. In a traditional labor law context, Mr. Steckloff, among many other successes, won the reinstatement of several discharged probationary bus drivers, together with hundred of thousands of dollars of back pay. Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1564 v. Southeastern Michigan Transportation Authority, 437 Mich 441 (1991).

Mr. Steckloff is a graduate of Cornell University (B.A., 1973) and the University of Michigan Law School (J.D., 1976), He has frequently lectured and written on employee benefit issues and labor related bankruptcy issues, and lectures annually at the Wayne State University Law School on pension matters. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan. Mr. Steckloff is an active member of the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee, the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and several labor and labor-management associations.
